Cairn is a private on-device knowledge assistant for macOS 26, with Liquid Glass. It indexes your files and the tools you connect, including Slack and Notion. Answers carry a citation on every sentence, plus source age and confidence. Conflicting sources are flagged. A knowledge health report covers duplicates and outdated docs. Answers can be marked verified. Actions wait for your approval. You can summon Cairn from anywhere.

Each sentence points at a source. You can open that source instead of trusting the prose alone.
Source age and a confidence indication sit with the citation. If sources disagree, Cairn flags the conflict.
A report for duplicates and outdated docs in the index. It is a list to read, not an automatic delete.
An answer can be marked verified. The citation is still what you check.
Actions are approval-gated. You can summon Cairn from anywhere you are working, instead of hunting for a window.
Point Cairn at the files you want included, and connect Slack or Notion if those are part of the corpus.
Every sentence has one. Source age tells you whether the document is old. Confidence tells you to slow down when the support is weaker.
Two sources can disagree. The flag is there so the assistant does not pick one in silence.
If you ask Cairn to do something, it waits for approval. The knowledge health report is where duplicates and outdated docs are listed for you to judge.
