Murmur is on-device dictation for macOS 26, with Liquid Glass. Hold a hotkey, speak, and the text is typed into any app that has focus. Recognition uses a local speech model, so the transcription stays on the Mac. Murmur keeps history and stats, and you can add a custom dictionary and snippets for the words and phrases you repeat.

Hold hotkeyFocused app
The hotkey is the gesture. The destination is whatever app already has the cursor.

What it does

Hotkey dictation

Hold the hotkey and speak. Murmur types the result into the focused app, whether that is Mail, a notes app, or a text field in a browser.

Local speech model

Recognition runs with a local model. Audio for that recognition is not sent to a Seven Hills server.

History and stats

Murmur keeps a history of dictation and stats on the Mac. This site does not publish sample stats.

Dictionary and snippets

Add names and jargon to a custom dictionary. Add snippets for phrases you want expanded instead of re-spoken.

A sentence, in order

  1. Put the cursor where the text should go

Murmur types into the focused app. If the cursor is in the wrong field, the words will land there.

  2. Hold the hotkey and speak

Speak the sentence. Release when you are done speaking. The model is local.

  3. Fix the words that are yours

Add a missed name to the custom dictionary. Turn a sign-off or a stock phrase into a snippet so you do not dictate it in full every time.

  4. Read it before you send it

A local model can still mishear. History is there if you want to look back at what was typed. The app you dictated into still has its own send button.

What you can count on

Five promises about the apps and the studio. They are not reviews, ratings, or a claim about how many people use the software.

On your Mac

Murmur transcribes on the Mac. Cairn works with local files and the services you choose to connect. Disk Housekeeper previews disk changes. Errand connects to work accounts only when you configure them, and AutomatorAI works on folders you select.

Questions

Does Murmur send audio to the cloud?

Murmur uses a local speech model. Transcription is on the Mac. If you then send an email or a chat message, that send is the other app, not the speech model.

Which apps can I dictate into?

Text is typed into the focused app. If the app accepts typing, it can accept dictation.

Can I teach it product names?

Yes. Murmur has a custom dictionary for words you care about, and snippets for longer phrases.

Does Murmur send my data anywhere?

Murmur uses a local speech model. Transcription stays on the Mac. If you send an email or a chat after that, the send belongs to the other app.
