Cairn
Summon Cairn while you work
Cairn can be summoned from wherever you are. The answer still cites every sentence. An action still waits.
You should not have to arrange windows to ask your own notes a question. Cairn can be summoned from anywhere. The panel visits the work you were already doing.
Summoning does not change the rules of an answer. A citation is still on every sentence. Source age and confidence are still there. An action is still approval-gated.
Steps
Summon it from the app you are in
Stay in the document or the browser. The point of summoning is that you do not context-switch into a separate search product to ask one question.
Ask something the index can know
Cairn answers from files and connected tools, not from a general claim about the world. If the note was never indexed, the citation cannot point at it.
Open the citation before you paste the sentence onward
A summoned answer is easy to drop into a doc. Open the source first. Age and confidence are the reasons to pause.
Dismiss it, or approve an action on purpose
Closing the panel is not an approval. If you asked for an action, approve it explicitly or leave it waiting.
Before you start
- A summoned panel can cover the sentence you were checking. Move it rather than trusting what you can no longer see.
- Do not paste a cited sentence into a message as if the citation will travel with it. The citation lives on the answer.
Questions
Does summoning upload the current document?
Cairn is an on-device assistant. Summoning it lets you ask from where you are. We do not describe a feature that sends the frontmost window to a Seven Hills server.
Why does the panel look like the system?
Cairn uses Apple's native Liquid Glass design on macOS 26, so a panel that appears over other apps can look like the Mac rather than a separate theme.
