Knowledge index
The local index Cairn builds so it can retrieve passages from your files and connected tools.
An index is a structure that lets a system find passages without rereading every file for every question. Cairn's index covers your files and the tools you connect, including Slack and Notion. What you do not index cannot be cited.
The index is part of a private on-device assistant. Connecting Slack or Notion still reaches those products to obtain what you connect. Answers are produced with a citation on every sentence. Start with a folder you consider current, as in Search your notes with citations, rather than indexing the entire disk on the first day.
