Confidence

Cairn's indication of how firmly a cited sentence is supported.

Confidence is a signal attached to an answer, separate from the citation and separate from the age of the source. A firmly supported sentence and a weakly supported one should not look identical. The citation is still what you open. Confidence is why you might open it before you repeat the sentence.

Cairn shows confidence. We do not publish the scale, the formula, or a sample score on this site. Do not invent a 0–100 reading when you look at an answer. Read the citation, and read Citations, confidence, and conflicting sources.
